Most of us spend the majority of our bathroom cleaning time scrubbing basins. The tub, shower, toilets, and sinks require most of our attention. You never think to clean your shower head until the water pressure decreases or water starts spraying irregularly. In most cases there is hard water buildup that needs to be cleaned. Worst case scenario is that dirt and gunk from the water pipes has collected and clogged the holes in your shower head. Either way, the fix is simple, eco friendly, and effective.

Naturally Clean Shower Head

What You Need

  • 1 Quart Size Sandwich Bag

  • Rubber Band

  • White Vinegar

What To Do

Fill your sandwich bag with vinegar and attach it to your shower head using the rubber band. Once you have it attached it should look like this:

Let this sit for as long as possible, preferably 24 hours. If your household has one shower, it’s best to do this after you have showered for the day.

After you have let it sit for a day, it’s time to remove the bag. There may be some leftover residue on the showerhead. You can use a small brush to easily clean it off. Now, it’s time to turn on the water and flush the vinegar and dirt out of the shower head. After letting the water run for 60 seconds, you will notice that the water now flows freely as we have removed all of the dirt and hard water buildup.

Why This Works

Vinegar is a natural acid that easily breaks down the chemical composition of the calcium hard water leaves behind.
